Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008)

There's a lot to like about Vicky Cristina Barcelona, arguably Woody Allen's best film since Crimes and Misedemeanors, and certainly his prettiest. This Rohmeresque romantic comedy ostensibly stars newcomer Rebecca Hall, reigning sex kitten Scarlett Johansson (one reviewer described her as resembling a "police sketch of a blonde"), and Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, channeling Anthony Quinn and Sophia Loren, respectively. The real star of the movie, for me, at least is the city of Barcelona, showcased in all its architectural splendor. Unfortunately for me, however, probably the closest I'll get to Barcelona is seeing this movie!
